Waffle House employee claims she was fired for filming viral video while on shift

A Waffle House employee claims she was fired for posting a TikTok video that went viral.

Yadira Ramirez (@yadirajramirez1) filmed the clip in September. 19; featured him and collaborators dancing and lip-syncing to “Brokey” by Latto.

Videos referencing the song trended on the platform when said the rapper the fan who posted the best clip “at their work” would win $10,000 and the chance to be in a music video.

Ramirez and her colleagues lip-synced to the song while washing dishes, counting money and eating waffles, and the video subsequently amassed 28.2 million views with 4.1 million likes.

But in a follow-up video with 14.1 million views, an emotional Ramirez claimed she was let go from the restaurant chain after working at an Atlanta branch for six years.

“I just got fired because of that Big Latto challenge video,” she said on TikTok. “I’m happy that I put six years into a company that would literally fire me for a day of posting a video that doesn’t hurt anyone, that everyone was actually literally totally and happy about to.”

She shared that Waffle House allegedly placed her on what she called the “EFR list,” meaning “basically I can never be hired again.”

The Post has reached out to Waffle House for comment.

Ramirez posted an additional video explaining that it’s not against company policy for them to use their phones at work — they’re just not allowed to badmouth the brand.

Additionally, she noted that there were two managers present at the time the video was recorded and “they know what was going on, and they said they wanted nothing to do with it” — but Ramirez added that “the same thing the manager who fired me is the same manager who was there.”

She also claimed she was the only one fired and no one else was written up.

But it wasn’t a negative ending for Ramirez because Latto noticed the situation. The next video posted by Ramirez was a Sept. 25 clips of her dancing again – with Latto herself, who handed her a wad of cash believed to total $10,000.

The Post has also contacted Latto’s representatives for comment.

And now it looks like Ramirez is ready to move on.

“Also, I’m fine. I’m not sad. It was just sad at the moment. I understand that life is about growth and blessings, I’m looking forward to my new path,” added Ramirez in the comments of one of her videos.
